Welcome back to the AGHF Player of the Week for the week ended October 22nd, 2023! This weekly feature, running throughout the 2023-24 season, pays tribute to outstanding players across all divisions. Our honorees are selected from player nominations submitted by their respective coaches. You can now commemorate their achievements with customizable Player of the Week merchandise available in the league store.

Here are this week’s Players of the Week for each division:

10U Nominating Coach: Mark Cardillo

  • “Maura had 2 goals and 1 assist on Saturday’s 2 games. The JR Flyers won both games 3-1. Maura also was great defensively posting a +3 rating for the day. She continues her great play now posting 7 goals and 11 assists in 11 games.”

12U Nominating Coach: DJ Matthews

  • Team: Saugerties Fillies
  • Player’s Name: Serenity DeWitt

  • Serenity toughed through an injury, that forced her to miss most practice time this wee, to go and record a Hat Trick in the league game this weekend. She was all over the ice. Super Proud of the hard work she puts in and it’s showing as she has surpassed last season Goal totals in half a season.”

14U Diamond Nominating Coach: Rebecca Morse

  • Team: Princeton Tiger Lilies
  • Player’s Name: Shane Mayer

  • Position: Forward
  • Shane has consistently been one of our most vocal players on the ice. Her loud and confident communication helps simplify the game for her teammates. Shane was relentless this weekend, specifically on the forecheck and pouncing on rebounds—and got rewarded for doing the little things well. On Saturday, she scored the game-winning goal, off her own rebound, with 40 seconds left on the clock. She also netted the game-winner on Sunday.”

14U Platinum Nominating Coach: Daryl Stringer

  • Alex, Captain of the team a versatile player (Goalie/Center) played Center this weekend and netted 3 goals in 2 games. 

16U Diamond Nominating Coach: Todd Seymour

  • Player’s Name: Madyn Barnett
  • Jersey Number: 40
  • Position: Defense
  • This weekend, Madyn demonstrated her versatility as a hockey player and willingness to support her team by moving back to play defense to help cover a light bench. Madyn excelled at defending the house and contributed to the office, netting a hat trick in our second of three games. Madyn set a great example by putting the team’s needs above her own and was able to see the reward on the scoreboard.”

19U Diamond Nominating Coach: Grace Potash
